Neill Blomkamp is best known for his work directing films like District 9, Elysium and this year's Chappie. But what fans of the accomplished director may not know is that he was at one point involved in a film set in Ridley Scott's Alien universe! Just moments ago the director shared concept art from a project he admits to working on via his Instagram, and they feature various designs of a mature Ellen Ripley, the Weyland Corp, an excavated Derelict spacecraft and the Xenomorph itself! Blomkamp posted this in addition to the photos: "Was working on this. Don't think I am anymore. Love it though."

It's possible Neill was involved in an Alien film prior to the Studio's choice to go the Prometheus route, getting further away from the Xenomorph and the original quadrilogy's storyline. Without a doubt Neill possesses the right style to direct an Alien film, but it's unlikely we'll be seeing an Alien 5 from him anytime soon with 20th Century Fox already developing the Prometheus sequel as well as a new sequel to Predator.
Regardless, let us know what you think of this incredible concept art in the comments section! Thanks to CBM for the heads up! (Source: Instagram)
Alien vs. Predator 3 – What We Know So Far
Officially, Alien vs. Predator 3 remains in concept phase for the time being. A reboot of the iconic crossover has been discussed on numerous occasions, with chatter picking up heavily from 20th Century Studios back in the Fall of 2024 after the successful release of Fede Alvarez's Alien: Romulus. The blending of Alien and Predator cinematic universes was further solidified in 2025 with Dan Trachtenberg's Predator: Badlands. The two movie monsters continue to coexist in the same timeline, but their conflict has not yet been realized since 2007. A reboot of Alien vs. Predator would likely ret-con the existing 2 entries and establish a completely new AvP timeline.
