If you're a gamer, chances are you're more than aware of the abomination the game Aliens: Colonial Marines turned out to be. Shady marketing, false promotions and empty promises are what the game is best known for unfortunately, after its massive backfire upon release. Both average gamers and Alien fans alike were caught off guard by just how bad the game was, despite its promising looking demo footage, the game fell short of all expectations and as a result, two gamers filed a class-action lawsuit against developer Gearbox Software for their misleading marketing throughout the course of the game's development.
As it turns out, Gearbox have gotten off lucky, as the two gamers who initially sued the game developer, for reasons unkown, have voluntarily dropped Gearbox from the lawsuit. This just leaves game producer SEGA in the crosshairs, but its unlikely the lawsuit will go on for much longer. Gamers who bought the game and felt cheated will not be getting any refunds and Gearbox have been let off the hook once again after delivering a very sub-par product.
Thankfully fans of the Alien franchise found refuge in last year's Alien: Isolation which blew Colonial Marines out of the water and claimed many 'Game of the Year' awards. A sequel to Isolation is already reportedly in development.
