MemberTrilobiteDec-28-2016 9:54 PMI am sure some regular members here have covered this so I apologize for being redundant. I think David makes a perfect villain or even a Satan. He is intelligent and charismatic and has never forced anyone to do his bidding as far as I can see. He intended to poison Holloway but gave him a chance to back out when he asked Holloway how far would he go to find the answers. When Holloway said everything and anything, that gave David the Green light to proceed.
Another poster proposed that Shaw might be the egg in the AC trailer. It seems possible she did or said something similar to Holloway, allowing David to carry out his plan with her full consent- at her peril.
If it is David at the egg scene, it appears he did not force the character to peer into the egg to get face hugged.
Sounds similar to Satan. Basically giving people more than they bargained for. Yet he is a fascinating character and his logic is pretty tough to argue with.
Thanks for indulging me if you read this post.

Insightful post. David is diabolical but, you're right, he never forces anyone to do his bidding. He certainly goes to extraordinary lengths when he's gotten an answer (as in your Holloway example) but never quite forces anyone's hand. He is charismatic and nefarious at once, a most interesting character. I'm curious to see the difference(s) in David and Walter.

It is an interesting dynamic to know that no matter what David or Walter (assuming he is an android) do, that humans created them and ultimately have themselves to blame for the actions of their creation. I am almost more interested in that aspect of AC than the Xeno evolution.

MemberDeaconDec-29-2016 3:10 PMWe have to look at it from Davids point of view...
Mankind create David, because they can and as a Tool, David and Androids are to be merely a Tool for Mankind, a Tool to take over tasks that would be repetitive for Humans, or Hard both Physically and Emotionally... they would be companions for people who have no Companionship....
IF we managed to create Androids in real life in say 50 years...
Some would be used as Sex Slaves make no doubt... for those who otherwise are not no Rich, Famous Sex Gods who have Sex on the Plate... these Androids would be just a Advanced Blow Up Doll...
Once these people can find sexual pleasure from real Humans the Androids would not be needed...
If a Android is used as a companion to talk to and carry out some care duties to a person who has little or no friends and family... if they then had family and friends.. the Android would then be not needed and pushed out.
Androids will be given jobs, that are to hard for Mankind.. they are there to make our life easier... they are not thought of as special..... they are merely a means to make our lives easier..
Like a Electric Kettle compared to using a Stove, like a Toaster compared to the Grill Oven... like a Microwave compared to the Oven.... a Tool to make the job easier....
So the Androids are just used by Mankind.... we created them because we could and for the sole purpose to be of use to us when Tasks are to hard for us.. or for things certain members of us cant get otherwise....

MemberDeaconDec-29-2016 3:15 PMBut the Androids that gain a bit of free-will (like David) will notice their masters are in-superior to them...
Now when their masters end up meeting their own Makers.. the Engineers, and David then sees that Mankinds creation was nothing Special.... and they was created because those Engineers could.... and these Engineers then wanted to dispose of the Wayward Humans and so never really Loved us..
This could make David think a bit different, and then he finds out the Engineers are Mortal after all and all that is special is there Advanced Technology and Tools....
David then gets his head ripped off by one of these beings..
At this point David must feed betrayed and not respected by both Man and the Engineers, and he knows Both are Mortal and he knows all that made them superior was Technology...
So David now has access to the Engineers Technology... so what makes Humans and Engineers more Superior to him now?
NOTHING.... so he now wishes to be as God himself..... because... HE CAN.

MemberTrilobiteDec-29-2016 5:31 PMBig Dave,
It is interesting you mention him feeling betrayed and disrespected- emotions. He said that he understands emotions but doesn't experience them himself. It seems that he may experience emotions but may not be aware of it.
